Undergraduate Scholarship Program

UCSB Shoreliners Undergraduate Scholarships are offered to all students of sophomore or junior standing in the College of Letters and Science each year on the basis of merit. Up to three scholarships may be awarded in the amount of $1500. Awards are announced in mid July. A congratulatory event takes place in the fall, usually October, which recipients are expected to attend and speak briefly about their academic pursuits. To be eligible, applicants must have at least a 3.6 GPA, to have been enrolled as full time students for at least three quarters, and must plan to enroll full time at UCSB in the next year.  The deadline for applications is June 30.  Awardees of the scholarships are notified during the summer and they will have to verify their enrollment for the fall quarter. 

How to Apply


1. A separate sheet of paper with your name; contact information, including summer and permanent, if different; and your major, written in full (no initials).

2. An unofficial transcript with a minimum of 3 quarters of grades, inclusive of the current quarter.

3. A one-page essay about yourself listing your accomplishments, extra curricular activities, honors, athletic participation, employment and your goals.

Note: If applicants receive financial aid, it may affect eligibility to receive the scholarship.

The endowed funds for the program are administered by the UCSB Foundation.  Donations are encouraged.
